Where: Oakridge Middle aka The Wave

It was a sunny 45 degree morning in Lake Wylie where 18 PAX came out for a Star Wars themed workout! I’ve been working on a Star Wars themed event for work for a while and we were finally going to go see the new movie Saturday so Star Wars has been on the brain! PAX were asked to bring light sabers if they had some to ramp up the fun.

The Thang:

After the intro and disclaimer we sat down for a yoga breathing exercise/nostril opener that proved harder to do in the cold. So try it more at home! Then we stood up and did 10 mins or so of a “Yoda Flow” including some stretching, sun salutations and vinyasa flow. The Jedi mind is important to exercise as well!!

then we got to work on our Jedi ladder training. Cones were placed down the drive and each went up by 10 with a new exercise at each. In between each ladder PAX were encouraged to try “Skywalker handstands” or what F3 calls “balls to the wall” against the school wall. (Side note: we renamed this Boobs to the wall, or even T&As so the wall because some of us like to kick up and put our Axx to the wall vs chest :) try it both ways and see what you like! Can you go 30 seconds? 60 seconds? Whenever you feel like quitting count to 10 and then get down. If this wasn’t your thing, you could jog around the parking lot in between ladders instead. Here they were:

ladder 1:

  • 10 Jedi Jacks (jams touches ground in the middle)

  • 20 General’s curtsy lunges

  • 30 Jedi jump squats

  • 40 x-wing squats

  • 50 Forest Moon high knee runs

Ladder 2:

  • 10 Rebel bombers (bomb jacks/ star jumps)

  • 20 Qui-Gon jump lunges

  • 30 Dark side lunges (fast, touch floor)

  • 40 Chewbacca chops

  • 50 imperial walkers

Moleskin:

incorporating light sabers added the extra core element with the chopping motions during exercises! Many PAX did their first ever handstands which is awesome! Pics on Instagram and FB. I hope to see these in more Qs going forward. Great job by everyone!!
